The metadata scanner uses the exifr library to inspect selected EXIF information such as camera make/model, GPS coordinates, and capture time. The cleaning step then loads the image into an HTML canvas and exports a fresh file from the rendered pixels rather than copying the original file headers.

What This Tool Checks
The current scanner displays camera make/model, GPS coordinates, and original capture date when those fields are available. A file can still contain other kinds of metadata that this small on-page diagnostic does not display. The cleaning step creates a new image from the rendered pixels instead of preserving the original file header.
Format and Quality Notes
The current tool accepts JPG, PNG, and WebP images. PNG files are exported as PNG; JPG and WebP inputs are exported as JPEG. The image dimensions are kept, but re-encoding can change compression, file size, color-profile information, or other format-specific properties.
